On the third day of product announcements Apple has released the long-rumoured MacBook Air M1 replacement, and this laptop will be available outside Walmart. The $599 (US) MacBook Neo in bright fun colours comes with an all-new design, and the first Mac to be powered by an A-chip (the A18 Pro) since the Apple Silicon developer kit.
The PC market is awash with $600 laptops but Apple has challenged the competition with a stellar computer. (Students will be able to pick up the Neo for only $499—half the price of a MacBook Air.) Were there compromises? Yes. Were the rumours suggesting something even more limited? Yes. Instead Apple has raised the bar.

Pre-orders begin next Wednesday.
