Apple has picked up speed with the release of each generation of Apple Silicon and today Apple unveiled the first products to be upgraded to the M5 family. Only last November did Apple release the M4 Pro and Max chips a mere five months after the M4 base processor had been announced. It's hard to predict how often and at what cadence Apple will be refreshing each generation but so far each generation first arrives with the bae chip followed a few months later by the higher-end processors.
For this update Apple has only revised the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the new base chip, at least on the Mac side. iPad Pro and Vision Pro also get to share the new chip.
